The voice of Guatemalan children, acting for the Earth

Pictures of children with their demands

This November, Guatemala became the stage for the second year of the simulation of COP 29, an event where more than 100 children took on the role of global leaders to address the issue of climate change and the effects it has on their lives and communities at the rural level.

During this recreation of the Conference of the Parties, children clearly and courageously expressed their concerns and opinions on the issue, determining five priority issues through a voting process.

What are their demands?

  1. That their voice be heard.
  2. Proper garbage management.
  3. Access to water for all people.
  4. Drought adaptation solutions.
  5. Guarantee food security for all.

In reply, representatives of the Ministries of Environment, Education and the Departmental Government publicly committed to bring these requests to the decision making spaces. A big step towards a fairer, greener and more equality in the future!

They are already leading the change, what about us?
